To issue safety training certificates in bulk, upload a CSV of trainee names and emails to a certificate platform like CertFusion, map the name and email columns, and click Issue Certificates. Every trainee instantly receives a branded, verifiable certificate with a QR code and its own shareable certificate page.
If you run workplace safety courses — fire safety, first aid, manual handling, site inductions — certifying a full cohort one certificate at a time doesn't scale. This guide walks through the exact workflow from the video: importing 40 trainees from a CSV and issuing all their certificates in under two minutes.
Before you start, have three things ready: a CertFusion account (the free plan works), a certificate design for your course, and a CSV file with two columns — trainee names and email addresses. Any spreadsheet app can export this; in the video we use a simple name-email.csv exported from Numbers.
Don't have a design yet? Build one first in the template editor — add your logo, signatures, and a QR code for verification.
In CertFusion, go to Certificate Templates. Find the design for your course — ours is called Safety Training Program, based on a Fire Safety Training Certificate template — and click the recipients icon on the design card.

On the recipients page, click Add Recipients. You'll see three ways to add people: individually, from a CSV, or synced automatically from one of twelve integrations including Zoom, Webex, Typeform, Tally, and Google Forms. For a one-off training cohort, CSV is the fastest — click Import CSV.

Tip: if you don't have a trainee's email, enter a dummy address like dummy@example.com — you can choose not to send emails when issuing.
Click Choose file, select your CSV, then hit Upload & Preview.

CertFusion shows a preview of your data and asks how each column should be mapped. Set column one to Recipient Name and column two to Email Address — the two required fields.

Want to print more than names? You can map extra columns — course name, completion date, score — to Custom Properties added in your template's Design tab.
Click Import Recipients.

CertFusion processes the file in seconds — in our case, "Successfully processed recipients: 40 created." Every trainee now appears in the list with a Pending status.

Tick the trainees you want to certify — or use Select all — then click Issue Certificates.

CertFusion asks whether to email the certificates. Choose Yes to send each trainee an email with a link to their certificate, or No if you'd rather distribute them yourself. Click Confirm.

After a quick refresh, every status flips from Pending to Issued, with view and download counts you can monitor later — a useful audit trail for compliance records.

Each trainee gets a personal certificate page with their name on the branded certificate, a unique credential ID, a scannable QR code, and buttons to download, share, or add the certificate to their LinkedIn profile. Anyone can verify the credential from the QR code — no emailed PDF attachments to lose.

Can I issue safety certificates without sending emails? Yes. When issuing, choose "No" in the email dialog. Certificates are still generated with their verification pages, and you distribute the links however you like. This also lets you import trainees using placeholder emails.
How many recipients can I import from one CSV? A CSV import handles your whole cohort at once — the video imports 40 trainees in a single upload, and larger lists work the same way. Each issued certificate counts against your plan's certificate quota.
Can I add course details like completion date or score to each certificate? Yes. Add Custom Properties to your template in the Design tab, then map additional CSV columns (course name, date, score) to them during import.
Are the certificates verifiable for compliance audits? Each certificate has a unique credential ID and QR code linking to a live verification page, plus view and download tracking — an auditable record for CPD, OSHA, or internal compliance requirements.
Can trainees add their certificate to LinkedIn? Yes. Every certificate page includes an Add to LinkedIn Profile button, pre-filled with the credential details.
